This one-day course covers essential first aid for infants, children, and adults, including emergency response for injuries and illnesses. It meets Work Health and Safety (WHS) compliance requirements for educators and support staff.

Ideal for directors, educators, and childcare staff, the course includes asthma and anaphylaxis management and aligns with national regulations. This unit is completed alongside:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Do I need any prior experience to enrol in this course?

No prior experience is necessary, but you must have a basic level of language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills. An LLN assessment is conducted as part of the pre-enrollment process.

What do I need to bring to the course?
  • Your completed pre-course workbook
  • Comfortable clothing for CPR practice (you will be performing CPR on the floor)
  • A towel or mat for CPR
  • Notepad and pen
Is this course suitable for all education and childcare workers?

Yes, this course is specifically designed for Directors, educators, and support staff in educational and childcare settings. It covers first aid for common emergencies, including asthma and anaphylaxis.

How long is my certification valid for?

The certification is valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component must be renewed every 12 months.

Can I get a government subsidy for this course?

Yes, the course is eligible for NSW Government subsidies under the Adult and Community Education (ACE) program. Fees depend on your eligibility, which can be checked before enrolment.

Is there a practical assessment?

Yes, the course includes practical assessments, including CPR and role-playing scenarios to ensure you are confident in responding to emergencies.

What happens if I fail the course?

If you are unable to meet the required competency standards, we will work with you to provide additional support. You may be given an opportunity to re-sit assessments.
